--LF Carl Crawford is headed to the Hall of Fame -- at least his spikes from Sunday's game are, an acknowledgement of his modern-day record-tying six stolen bases against the Red Sox. LF Carl Crawford extended his season-opening streak of stolen bases to 18 on Monday. He also has stolen a base in seven straight games, extending his own club record. The last player to have a streak that long was Corey Patterson, who stole a base in nine straight games in 2006 for Baltimore. Crawford has stolen 20 bases without being caught going back to last season, breaking his team record.

--OF Gabe Gross is expected back for Tuesday's game after going home to Alabama for the birth of his first child, a daughter Allie Lee.

--LHP Scott Kazmir is only 25, but he was giving life advice Sunday to Patrick Schuster, the 18-year-old from nearby Mitchell High who burst into stardom by throwing four consecutive no-hitters. Before throwing out the first pitch, Schuster was asking about his soon-to-be pending decision on whether to attend college at the University of Florida or go pro.

BY THE NUMBERS: 6 -- Stolen bases by Carl Crawford in Sunday's game, tying the modern-day major-league record.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I wish I had known during the game. I probably would have broken it. At least I would have tried." -- Carl Crawford, on finding out after the game he had tied the modern-day major-league record with six steals.
