--OF Gabe Gross is expected back for Tuesday's game after going home to Alabama for the birth of his first child, a daughter Allie Lee.

--LHP Brian Shouse is likely to get at least a couple games off after throwing 45 pitches on Saturday, his most in a game since June 15, 2005, when he threw 41 for Texas.

--LHP Scott Kazmir is only 25, but he was giving life advice Sunday to Patrick Schuster, the 18-year-old from nearby Mitchell High who burst into stardom by throwing four consecutive no-hitters. Before throwing out the first pitch, Schuster was asking about his soon-to-be pending decision on whether to attend college at the University of Florida or go pro.

--3B Evan Longoria went into play Sunday leading the majors with 30 RBIs and 1B Carlos Pena led the majors with 11 home runs. Together, they are the top home run (18) and RBI duo (57) in the majors, and just the fourth set of teammates since 1954 to have 27 or more RBIs each through the first 25 games. The others were Duke Snider and Roy Campanella of the 1955 Dodgers, Andres Galarraga and Dante Bichette of the 1994 Rockies and Miguel Tejada and Brian Roberts of the 2005 Orioles.
