--RHP Edwin Jackson had a second consecutive stellar outing, throwing seven shutout innings to run his scoreless streak to 15, but he had nothing to show for it. For the second time in five days, he left with a lead and Troy Percival blew the save.
--INF Ben Zobrist was activated from the disabled list and will go back into the super-utility role planned since spring training, playing all infield and outfield positions. He could even get a start in right field against a lefty, with Jonny Gomes as the DH. --OF Rocco Baldelli, out since spring training with a muscle fatigue disorder, has resumed workouts. He continues to seek medical answers and said he still hopes to come back this season. "I'm hoping that some of these medications I'm taking are going to help me get on the field for an extended period of time without having the problems that I had," he said.
--RHP Al Reyes (biceps tendinitis) felt good after playing catch Tuesday and seems likely to be activated Wednesday. RHP Scott Dohmann seems likely to go, though he's out of options and the Rays would risk losing him through waivers.
--2B Akinori Iwamura extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single.
