--SS Jason Bartlett insisted he made the right play in trying to score on Akinori Iwamura's groundball up the middle during the seventh-inning rally in the continuation of Game 5 of the World Series. He said that given another opportunity, he would do exactly the same thing. "If it worked, we'd be talking about something different right now," he said.

--OF Rocco Baldelli, a free agent because the Rays earlier this year declined a $6 million 2009 option, said he hadn't really thought yet about his future, but both he and team officials indicated an interest in working out a deal.

--DH Cliff Floyd will find out soon what has to be done to repair what is believed to be a slightly torn labrum in his right shoulder. Floyd said he likely would retire if surgery were required, but then said the fondness he has for the team would make any decision difficult.

--Carl Crawford was voted the game's top left fielder in the Fielding Bible Awards for the second time in three seasons.

--Manager Joe Maddon was headed back to California on Nov. 1 to prepare for another major event, his Nov. 8 wedding to Jaye Sousoures and then a honeymoon in Europe.

BY THE NUMBERS: .212 -- The Rays' team batting average in the World Series.
