Joe Maddon managed his 500th game with the Rays on Tuesday, surpassing Larry Rothschild for most in team history.

And though Maddon is not signed past this season, he hopes and expects to be with the Rays for a while.

"It's an honor to manage the 500th game here, and I hope there are many more to come," Maddon said.

Maddon, 55, said he has "zero concern" about his contract situation and that the only time it comes up is when he is asked about it.

"I believe I'm going to be here for many years," he said. "I want to be here for many years.

"I think we have a great relationship. I think we have a unique relationship, from ownership to front office to myself and our staff and the players. I couldn't be happier about that, and it's up to us now to continue by communicating."

Front office officials have said they feel similarly.

MARINERS 4, RAYS 2: Tampa Bay's offense continued to struggle, going 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and striking out 10 more times. Andy Sonnanstine had one bad inning that did him in, allowing three runs in the fourth to blow a 2-0 lead. Gabe Kapler let a deep flyball to center get over his head for a two-run triple.
