Pitcher arrested by airport police
Times Staff Writer

TAMPA - A minor league Baseball player who plays for a Tampa Bay Rays affiliate was arrested at Tampa International Airport on charges of having a gun hidden in his carry-on bag, police say.

Rejino N. Gonzalez III, 26, a pitcher with the Montgomery Biscuits, a Double A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays , tried to go through security Sunday when the gun was found, according to an arrest report. Gonzalez placed his bag on the belt at 8 a.m., where X-ray equipment revealed an unloaded .357 Ruger revolver in side the front pocket. Gonzalez was charged with one count of carrying a concealed firearm. He posted $2,000 bail and was released from the Orient Road Jail later Sunday.
